We Can’t Help But Say What We Think!

Since the Bible says you can’t control the tongue should you just say whatever you want and blame James 3:8 “…no man can tame the tongue…”?

THE INPUT OF OUR THINKING CONTROLS THE OUTPUT OF OUR LIVES:

When a child isn’t speaking correctly the first evaluation begins with the ears. What we hear determines how we speak. Steve Uppal and his family arrived last night and will be speaking to us at Destiny this weekend. The English accent is entertaining in and of itself. Why do they speak that way? That’s what they heard all of their lives. The input of your thinking determines the output of your life

The only way you can control the output of your life is by taking control of the input of your life! You are a processor and what gets in produces what’s coming out of your life.

You cannot control your tongue. You can, however, control what gets to your brain. If we watch what we think we won’t have to watch what we say. This is why it is so important for people in the realm of dating not to get involved with somebody they find attractive too quickly. The Bible teaches that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. This means the tongue is just the delivery person of what has been allowed in the heart. In a sense the tongue delivers the mail. You must take the time to read the mail or you won’t know what’s in the heart.

It’s not until we begin to process what God designed us to process that we produce what God has designed us to produce. If you don’t like what’s coming out you must change what’s getting in. Give your attention to the right things or the wrong things will take control.
Houston Astros star pitcher, Jose Lima was one of the best pitchers in the league. He was leading a 21 game winning streak in 2000 when the Astros built their new stadium. The first time he visited the new stadium and stood on the pitchers mound he looked out and observed that the fence in left field was much closer than the fence at the Astrodome. The new Enron Stadium has one of the shortest distances from home plate to left field of any ballpark in all of baseball.

When he saw how close the fence was, the first words out of his mouth were, “I’ll never be able to pitch in here.” He went from being a 21 game winner to being a 16 game loser in back to back seasons? It was the biggest negative turnaround in history of their team. What got in his thinking came out of his mouth and it took root robbing him of his confidence.

The devil isn’t looking for recognition. He just wants to quietly contaminate the atmosphere of your life so God’s promises will never grow there. God’s Kingdom truly is a matter of the heart for every single one of us. When our hearts are filled with what they should be filled with then our mouths will declare what God has designed us to declare.
