Creating Positive Cultures

Have you ever had a small vertebra in your back slightly out of alignment? I have and everything changes when that situation arises. It’s not that you can’t function at all. It’s just that you can’t function effectively in any direction.

This very small thing in your body just slightly out of order will keep you from running, jumping or even walking at a normal pace. You might be able to hobble around but something is out of order and you simply can’t accomplish anything close to what you normally could.

I believe the church is far more gifted, anointed and powerful than any of us realize. The Bible describes one of the most effective tools of the enemy as one of the smallest parts of the body that can create great problems. In fact James compares this to a small spark that is capable of creating a devastating forest fire. We are speaking about the tongue!

As the church bickers over petty issues the lost desperately need Jesus. Speaking negatively about people or situations can absolutely paralyze the body of Christ. The very first lesson revealed in Scripture about how God operates addresses this very issue.

Gen 1:1-4 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. NIV

A creative event was followed by chaos as we clearly understand God created the heavens and the earth but then the earth became formless and empty. God’s response to the chaos after the creative event was to hover and to speak creatively. Hovering gives the idea of a protective mother bird preserving and protecting.

Any time you experience a creative event in your life the enemy will try to bring chaos. Any new marriage will commonly experience a good deal of immature conflict. A new job, new house, new child, any area of advancement in your life will always be met with new levels of resistance requiring new levels of maturity. We must hover over the situation protecting it. We must speak creatively and not cooperate with the chaos saying things we shouldn’t say making the situation even more chaotic.

If the devil has his way every creative event in your life will be destroyed by attacks of chaos. We are called to create positive cultures in the chaos of a fallen world. Let’s help mature God’s people to know how to rise above the temptation to cooperate with chaos.

When the church is devoted to this order gifts will be awakened, our anointing will be stronger and we will be the powerful men and women of God He has called us to be.
