Battle Ready & Why God Prays

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. Roman’s 12:1-2 (The Message Bible)

Bob Sorge wrote in his book, The Secrets of the Secret Place, “Powerful things happen inside of you when you spend time with God…the molecular composition of your soul gets restructured. You start to think differently as passions and interests gradually shift, and you don’t even know why…sinful affections that once pulled at your soul no longer have their former power over you.”

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them he gave power to become the sons of God. KJV

You are becoming a more exaggerated version of yourself every single day. Think about what you think about because what you think about matters. I’ve watched happy people get happier, sad people get sadder, crazy ppl…

You’re in the process of becoming. You can participate in the process of becoming who God originally designed you to be.

Years ago people thought the human brain was hardwired and unchanging, like a pre-programmed computer. Science reveals the principle of neuroplasticity, change can begin at any moment you intentionally begin rewiring the brain. It can start now.

This was an amazing new discovery except that it wasn’t new at all. The Apostle Paul was writing about this around 50AD. Take thoughts captive 2 Cor 10:5. Think intentionally (Phil 4:8). Set our minds on things above (Col 3:2).

Phil 2:13 For God is working in you (Gal 4:19 forming Christ in you), giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. NLT

(Cody Anderson): “2023-  Battle Ready not Battle Weary. Spiritually fit for warfare, looks different than just being Spiritually prepared. Be Spiritually Fit!  This year will be a battle for the life and power of ministry.   The enemy will present road blocks, but God is setting ambushes.  Get the praisers ready and out front.  Prepare worship teams to flow in the anointing.  Corporate Worship must prepare for the flow of authority and declaring the Glory of the Lord in specific seasons.  As the flow of corporate worship is released, anointing and fire will fall, assignments over regions and lives will be undone and the plans and purposes of God will be accomplished. For our God is a consuming Fire!!!!!!!!!   Declare the Glory of the Lord!

Sunday Evening Notes: WHY GOD PRAYS:

Jesus rose from the grave and was seated at the right hand of the Father “making intercession = praying” Jesus is God! God prays??? Why does God pray?

In beginning we find God speaking and a world existing as the result.

Gen 1:1-3 In beginning God created the heavens & the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless & empty, darknss was over the surface of the deep & the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3 And God said, “Let there be light” & there was light. NIV

Don’t rehearse the darkness – declare the light

Adam & Eve sinned against God and everything changed from eternal flourishing and life to temporal deterioration and death. We now live in a fallen, broken world as a fallen broken people.

In essence the world we live in is winding down.

Entropy = 2nd Law Thermodynamics  – Old car left in field 100 yrs falls apart. Car, house, friendships, marriage, fam, etc. natural order is things fall apart as a result of The FALL. It is only when we deliberately energize these winding down entities will they thrive. What is this energy?

Restoration and reversal requires a revealing of what started it all and in the beginning God spoke His Word to start it all. Isn’t it interesting that God sent his Son, The Word, made flesh to redeem and restore us. In the beginning God spoke his Word. To redeem the Fall God sent his Word.

We are created in the image of God who releases his creative, redeeming and restoring power through his Word. Jesus isn’t powerlessly praying to a powerful God. Jesus is releasing God’s Word into the earth – which will not return void but will accomplish the purpose for which it was sent – Isa 55:11.

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword… NIV

Isa 49:2 He made my mouth like a sharpened sword…. NIV

What happens when we take God’s Word in our mouths as we pray?

Prayer is a powerful God empowering His people to release the essence and the substance of His Kingdom in the earth to replenish, restore and even reverse the curse into a blessing (Neh 13:2). This is why God tells us to let the weak say I am strong in Joel 3.

Spending time in the presence of God gives weight to our words, puts fire in our eyes and awakens God’s Kingdom in the earth.

John 8:12 Jesus said, “I am the light of the world…” NIV

Matt 5:14 Jesus said, “You are the light of the world….” NIV

Unfortunately, the church has largely embraced escapism in their theology. Many believe the church will get lighter and the world will get darker until things get so bad God is forced to show up.

You’re not the light of the church. You’re the light of the world. Jesus isn’t coming back for a weak, helpless bride. He’s coming back for a strong, vibrant, and powerful bride.

When Jonah got into alignment with his assignment the capital city of paganism turned to God in just one day. The problem in our world isn’t the abundance of darkness. The problem is the absence of light.

Smith Wigglesworth steps onto a street car and people begin weeping in the presence of God as he had become such a gateway for heaven.

Ps 24:7 – Lift up your heads oh ye gates that the King of glory may come in!

Jesus didn’t die so we could go to church. Jesus died so we could become the church that releases God’s Kingdom in the earth in power and anointing!

Conversational relationship w God all day every day is what Jesus wants us to know.

Philippians 2:13 For God is working in you (Gal 4:19 forming Christ in you), giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. NLT

Solitude is the practice of being absent from people and things in order to attend to God.

“Without silence and solitude it’s virtually impossible to grow in the spiritual life. We do not take the spiritual life seriously if we do not set aside some time to be with God and listen to him.” Henri Nouwen
