Train Your Spiritual Senses – Prayer To Pray

Lord your word says we are to fix our eyes on that which is unseen. We know that if we can see the invisible, we can do the impossible.

Help us see the invisible in every situation as we fix our eyes on Jesus. Take us into the realm of possibility even when there seems to be no way. Awaken our supernatural faculties oh God!

We are your people, and you are our God. You are constantly revealing your perspective in every situation. May we learn to respond to you rather than reacting to circumstances.

Amos 3:7-8 Surely the Sovereign LORD does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets. The lion has roared– who will not fear? The Sovereign LORD has spoken– who can but prophesy?  (NIV)

When the Lion of the tribe of Judah roars, we can’t help but prophesy!

This decade is the decade of the roaring twenties! Not like the 1920s. Like the 2020s where the roaring Lion of the Tribe of Judah is awakening the roar of God in the body of Christ.

Isa 31:4 references the lion’s “growl”. This is the same word in Hebrew that translates, “meditate.”

As we meditate on God’s Word and that which God reveals, the roar of God is awakened within us.

Help us learn to be sensitive to the roar of God discovered in the revelation of Christ.

We are aware of the battles that rage around us but we do not have to come under their influence. You have given us the God-given ability to stay in touch with what you are seeing and what you are saying in the midst of every challenge.

Thank you Lord for wisdom, revelation and supernatural abilities to effectively use the tools of the spirit that are available to us.

Your word says we can train our senses through the constant use of what you reveal coming to a place of maturity.

Heb 5:14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained their senses to distinguish good from evil. (Berean Study Bible)

May we embrace the advice Paul gave his spiritual son Timothy in avoiding distractions and learning to train ourselves.

1 Tim 4:7 But reject irreverent and silly myths. Instead, train yourself for godliness. NAS

Help us to be intentional about training our senses so we learn to pick up the sword in alignment with the movement of the Lord in the midst of any battle.

1 Chron 12:8 “…They were brave warriors, ready for battle and able to handle the shield and spear. Their faces were the faces of lions, and they were as swift as gazelles in the mountains.” NIV

May we practice the faculties and abilities of the Spirit in the way we walk.

2 Cor 5:7 for we walk by faith, not by sight– (NAS)

“Sight” is referencing the five physical senses. We are learning to rely on our spiritual senses even more than our physical senses in the way we walk with God. Teach us to live in a constant state of communication with you as a normal way of life.

This is the purposed plan of God. That we might discern the greater reality that is born from the eternal perspective of God. Joshua looked at a city that was tightly shut up with nobody going in and nobody coming out. You invited him to see the invisible, discerning that the city was given into his hands.

Josh 6:1-2 Now Jericho was tightly shut up because of the Israelites. No one went out and no one came in. 2 Then the LORD said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men.  (NIV)

Help us to follow the example of Jesus. May we learn to discern and judge by our spiritual faculties not by what we see with our eyes or what we hear with our ears.

Isa 11:2-3 The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him– the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD– 3 and he will delight in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears;  (NIV)

Give us the understanding like you gave Elisha when he saw what his servant could not see. As you opened his servant’s eyes oh Lord may you also open our eyes to see the invisible.

II Ki 6:16-17 “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” 17 And Elisha prayed, “O LORD, open his eyes so he may see.” Then the LORD opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.  (NIV)

Your word says the things you have prepared for us cannot be seen, heard or conceived with our natural abilities.

1 Cor 2:9-10 “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” — the things God has prepared for those who love him 10 these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. NIV

You oh Lord are all powerful! Lead us! Guide us! Direct us! May we learn to lift our heads in every situation lifting our countenance as the gates through which you enter into every circumstance that may come our way.

Ps 24:5-9 They will receive blessing from the LORD and vindication from God their Savior. 6 Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, God of Jacob. 7 Lift up your heads, you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. 9 Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. NIV

Holy Spirit you guide us into all truth. Awaken our abilities to be led by the Spirit rather than speaking from our own reactionary initiative. Lessen our reaction. Deepen our response.

John 16:13 But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth: for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. NAS

John 6:45 It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to me. NIV

Isa 54:13 All your children will be taught by the LORD, and great will be their peace. NIV

God’s direction stretches us into the prophetic context taking us from our former frame of reference to a future frame of reference.

May we all be more sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and the presence of God, so conversations become confirmations that we’re all hearing God together.

Lord we know that the key to hearing the voice of God is a willingness to hear what you want to say more than what we want to hear.

Today I lay down my own agenda embracing yours in Jesus mighty name!
